JSON → YAML / TOON Compressor
Remove repetitive quotes, commas, and structural brackets by converting JSON into YAML or TOON notation. Compare the resulting data footprint before sending structured content into AI workflows.
📥 JSON Input
Paste valid JSON or load a local .json file.
⚡ Compress & Convert
Generate both formats and compare their estimated token footprint.
📤 Compressed Output
Switch between YAML and TOON output.
Compare structured-data formats
Paste valid JSON and convert it to YAML and TOON. Compare the estimated lengths and copy or download the format your receiving system accepts.
Example: repeated records such as [{"name":"Ada","score":9},{"name":"Lin","score":8}] can benefit from a format that lists shared field names once. Small objects may become larger.
Estimates use character counts, not a provider tokenizer. Conversion is not guaranteed to save tokens. Keep the source JSON and verify that numbers, nulls, strings and nested arrays retain their intended meaning. Integers beyond JavaScript’s safe range should be represented as strings.
JSON to YAML Converter and Compressor: common questions
Does compact JSON preserve the original data?
Removing insignificant whitespace from valid JSON can preserve its parsed values. Always parse and compare the result when exact data matters, especially for large numbers and unusual inputs.
Will YAML or TOON always use fewer AI tokens?
No. Savings depend on the input structure and the destination tokenizer. Compare the available formats and verify that your model or application understands the chosen representation.
Can I use the output as JSON in an API request?
Only valid JSON belongs in a field that requires JSON. YAML and TOON are different representations and need appropriate support or conversion. Review the output format before copying it into an application.
